Inaugurazione della mostra dedicata all’architetto portoghese Carrilho da Graça.

Dopo essere stata presentata in Portogallo, Uruguay, Argentina, Brasile, Spagna e Francia, approda anche a Milano, al Politecnico di Milano, durante la Milano Arch Week, la mostra di Carrilho da Graça dedicata a Lisbona.

La mostra è una selezione  di 13 progetti per la città di Lisbona disegnati dal noto architetto portoghese fra la fine degli anni ’80 e il 2015.
Non un’esibizione unicamente su João Luís Carrilho da Graça o i suoi progetti, la mostra è soprattutto un modo di vedere, qualcosa che è stato presente sin dall’inizio della carriera dell’architetto. Questo sguardo è qui illustrato usando la città di Lisbona, sulla quale ha lavorato per più di 30 anni anni.

I materiali presentati in questa mostra ci permettono di avvicinarci a una teoria del territorio, espresso in un piano terra e modello di Lisbona, e ribadito dai modelli di diversi progetti individuali. 

Alcuni dei progetti presentati sono stati ampiamente pubblicati, come il College of Media Studi (1987-1993) e il Terminal delle crociere di Lisbona (2010-2017), ma altri non sono stati divulgati fino ad ora, come il piano creato sotto l’egida del programma Valis (1991) o progetti per concorsi che, nonostante abbiano vinto, non sono mai stati effettivamente costruiti, come l’estensione per l’Assemblea della Repubblica (1992).

Biografia
João Luís Carrilho da Graça (1952), graduated in architecture in the School of Fine Arts, Lisboa, in 1977, starting his professional activity in the same year.
His work has been recognized with several awards, including: Royal Institute of British Architects 2015 International Fellowship, medal from l’Academie d’Architecture Française in 2012, title of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres of the French Republic in 2010, Prémio Pessoa in 2008, Order of Merit of the Portuguese Republic in 1999, and the International Association of
Art Critics Award in 1992.
Nominated for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture — Mies van der Rohe Award on several occasions, was distinguished, among others, with the AIT Award 2012, the Frate Sole International Prize of Sacred Architecture 2012, the Piranesi Prix de Rome 2010, the FAD Prize in 1999, and the Secil Prize in 1994. Participated in the Portuguese official representation to the 12th and 13th Venice Architecture Biennales and on the main exhibition of the 15th Biennale.
Assistant Lecturer at the School of Architecture of the Universidade Técnica de Lisboa from 1977 to 1992 and Full Professor at the same school since 2014. Full Professor at the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa from 2001 to 2010, and at Universidade de Évora from 2005 to 2013, where was responsible for the PhD programme in Architecture. Visiting Professor
at the School of Architecture of the Universidad de Navarra (2005, 2007, 2010 and 2014) and at the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning of Cornell University, in New York (2015).
In 2013 received an Honoris Causa Doctorate Degree from the School of Architecture of the Universidade de Lisboa. In 2015 was made Honorary Member of the Association of Portuguese Architects.
